STEWIACKE – A 40-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car while walking on Highway 2 on Wednesday.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., the Colchester RCMP received a call about a pedestrian being struck near the fire hall in Stewiacke while walking.

The victim was walking north along the southbound lane off Highway 2 between Main Street and the fire hall when an unknown vehicle hit him.

The vehicle left the scene.

The victim was able to call for assistance from his cell phone. He was transported to hospital in Halifax where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
