AMHERST – Heavy, wet snow was creating treacherous driving conditions throughout Cumberland County on Wednesday.

The first major snowfall of the year closed schools across northern Nova Scotia and closed both the Amherst and Springhill campuses of the Nova Scotia Community College.

Most businesses did open for the day.
