Maritime Bus to look at adding more Springhill-stops

SPRINGHILL – At first blush the numbers didn’t seem to justify many stop in Springhill when Maritime Bus replaced the gap created by Acadian Lines’ departure, but the reaction certainly warrants a second look.

President Mike Cassidy says there has been an outpouring of reaction to reducing service to and from Springhill when Maritime Lines took over bussing in the region last week.

“When you see the letters, the emails and the information we have been getting… from your MLA, the chamber of commerce, the prison, students… Springhill is definitely on my radar,” Cassidy said.

Cassidy said when the decision was made to offer a reduced service to Springhill it was based on information Springhill offered poor rider and shipping opportunities.

“Perhaps we don’t have the best information on sales,” Cassidy said. “We’re going through all the emails, letters, ticket information.”

Maritime Bus is taking this week to dig into the situation and, if the numbers look good, Cassidy said adding stops in Springhill is a decision he can make without having to go before Maritime Bus’s board of directors.
