MONCTON – The man accused in the 2010 killing of Sabrina Patterson, who had connections here in Cumberland County, has been found guilty.

A Moncton jury found Fred Prosser, 33, of Shenstone, N.B., guilty of first-degree murder, sexual assault causing bodily harm and assault causing bodily harm. The jury delivered its verdict this morning after 10 and-a-half hours of deliberations.

A pathologist had testified Patterson was brutally sexually assaulted, and manually strangled to death. Her blood was found on Prosser’s jeans and in the bed of his truck. Prosser’s DNA was found on Patterson’s body.

Patterson’s body was found near Shenstone after an extensive search that lasted two weeks.
