SPRINGHILL – Another mayoral and council term has come to an end. The newly elected mayor and councillors were sworn into their appointed positions last night at Springhill town hall.

Maxwell Snow was the newly appointed mayor as well as two new councillors, Darrell White and Harold Delaney. The three new members to town council said they were more than ready to start the new term.

“It’s great and exciting,” said newly elected mayor, Maxwell Snow. “I’m looking forward (to the work) with much anticipation.”

Snow said he is looking forward to working with the councillors to continue to make improvements to the town.

“We have a great team,” he said. “I couldn’t be happier.”

Councillor White said, although he is looking forward to starting the new term, it’s going to be challenging.

“There are going to be a few challenges that we’re going to be dealing with that are coming up right away,” he said. “But I’m looking forward to it. I think we have a great team. We’re ready to get down, dig in the mud and get dirty.”

Councillor Delaney said he had been waiting for (the swearing in) since the election. He said he’s excited to get started.

“I have my orientation next week,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Although Delaney doesn’t yet have an agenda for what he’d like to seen done during his term as a town councillor, White said he has a few areas that he feels should be at the top of the council’s to do list.

“I would like to see the town continuing to make forward strides,” he said. “Upgrading the paving is certainly a priority and just keep moving forward financially and make sure we don’t acquire any of the deficits that the last councillors left with. Our motto is to be good stewards of the town.”

Along with the newly elected council members were incumbent members Jack MacDonald and Doug Dobson.
