AMHERST – Amherst Police and EHS responded to a noon hour car-bicyclist collision at a crosswalk on Victoria Street.

An 81-year-old man was peddling his bicycle across the street, using the crosswalk near the Scotiabank, when he was struck by a vehicle pulling out of a nearby parking space.

The cyclist did not see the vehicle leaving the parking spot and proceeded to cross. The driver of the vehicle's vision was hindered by a large truck and the glare from the sun.

There were no injuries.

Police are reminding cyclists to stop and walk their bike when using a crosswalk.
