AMHERST – Youth interested in learning about agriculture and developing different life skills are invited to learn about Double ‘D’ 4-H club this Sunday.
“It’s open to anyone who is interested in seeing what 4-H is all about,” said Double ‘D’ leader Sharlene Carter-Earle. “We’ll have registration forms there and we’ll talk to them about 4-H and I’ll give them the website with all our information.”
The club takes children and youth, ages seven to 21. The club has over 30 projects members can get involved in.
“In the animals, we have beef and dairy, goat, waterfowl,” she said, naming a few. “In life skills, there’s the computer, sewing and crafts.”
One of the things Carter-Earle was hoping to do at the meeting is have those interested see what an actual 4-H meeting is like. Then, the guests will break off into groups with some of the current members and see what is involved with the projects they have an interest in so they get a feel for what is there.
“I’m hoping it will work well because sometimes people don’t know what they want to take but they know they want to join.”
The first meeting will take place at the Immanuel United Church on Hickman Street at 7 p.m. Registration forms will be available at the meeting through Carter-Earle.
