DEBERT – A 23-year-old Valley man and employee of Kohler Windows has been arrested in relation to a bomb threat called in regarding the facilty this morning.

“Police were able to track down the cell phone used to make the bomb threat to an employee of Kohler Windows,” RCMP Sergeant Al Affleck said, in a press release issued shortly before 2 p.m. Monday.

“At 12:00 noon a 23-year-old male from Valley was arrested by police on Kohler Windows property,” he said.

Colchester RCMP received a 911 call at 9:30 a.m. in regard to a bomb threat at the Debert manufacturing facility.

The three buildings at Kohler Windows were evacuated and searched by employees and an RCMP bomb-sniffing dog. No bomb was located.

Police continue to investigate and charges of public mischief and uttering threats are pending completion of the investigation.

    ok...the employees were just as dumb for going back in as the employer was for asking them to...theres a bill designed for stuff like that....Bill C45...anyone remember a little mine that blew up in Nova Scotia???...the bill comes from that and its there for your protection....it is your right and you are obligated to refuse unsafe work and work that you are not properly trained to perform....pretty sure no one there is trained on bomb detecting...lol....and until a qualified person cleared the building, why would you be dumb enough to enter a building that could potentially have a bomb in it.....cause your boss said so??? really...ummmm, building windows and doors must be worth dying for....use your head and know your rights, cause your boss tells you to do something doesnt mean you have to....

    After reading comments by others who work there I have to ask: is this just a small town screw-up or do RCMP always send employees back in to a building when there has been a bomb threat to check things out before the bomb squad and dog(s) go in? And if the employees (and friends of) say that is what happened… why did TDN change the wording in the second publication of the story to make it sound like the employees had the bomb-sniffing dog there for safety, if they didn't?

    MAC, they changed the article before you got to read it.. to TOBY and RORA's credit, it did say something totally different. At least they fixed the spelling mistakes too!!!!

    Nope, it's true the employees went in before the dog. With all the propane and chemicals in the warehouse if there really was a bomb and it went off everyone would of been killed.

    The first report indicated that employees were to be taken back in to check personal areas and *following* that check by employees, a bomb-sniffing dog would be sent in. It has been updated since then to read that "employees and an RCMP bomb-sniffing dog" were together.

    Perhaps the Truro police should take note on what to do when there is a bomb threat called in their jurisdiction. See ya in court Truro police.

      Before ragging on the Truro Police, maybe think about what you're saying first. Kohler isn't even in the Truro Police jurisdiction AND read the article, it clearly states, RCMP! Now does this change your opinion?

    I am an.employee there and we were all sent in to look at our stations before the dogs arrived!! Seemedh a bit backwards!!

    Dont be foolish, employees were not sent back into the building, thats ridiculous. What they are saying is 2-3 volunteers (likely managers or maintenance workers with access to every area) accompanied the RCMP bomb sniffing dog in the search of the facility. When the Aberdeen hospital was evacuated last year do you think they searched that entire building without the help of "local knowledge" IE..employees?

      no they sent the employees back in my buddie works there said if they see anything that looks funny thed send in the bomb squad

      My boyfriend works there and they sent the employees back in to search the building. He text me and said they all had to go search the building. and then the dog was sent in afterwards

    As I read this article I am amased that the bomb sniffing dog is not sent in until after the employees have been called back in to undergo a search of their individual stations. If I was employee I would not feel safe going back into the building until it had been cleared by the bomb sniffing dog. If the employees we ere called back into the building and then a bomb did go off and anyone was injured or killed how would the powers to be feel and what major lawsuit might they fac.e
