VALLEY – Inattention and fast driving are being attributed to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 104 just east of Exit 17 in Valley Thursday afternoon.

An RCMP spokesman said the unidentified male driver was taken to hospital for observation but was conscious and lucid at the scene of the crash, which occurred around the noon hour.

Police said the driver was reaching for a cigarette and overcorrected after hitting the left shoulder, crossed the highway into the ditch and rolled several times. Witnesses indicated the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time.

The Ranger Rover he was driving was extensively damaged.
