AMHERST – A victim of what may be a physical assault was found Friday afternoon on Clarence Street.

Amherst Police confirmed they received a call from EHS about an injured female. Sgt. Brian Gairns said the woman had undetermined, non-life threatening injuries.

“We are following up and investigating further,” he said.

A young boy was outside his Clarence Street home when he saw her.

“We were just walking around…riding scooters,” said the lad.

The older woman was limping barefoot down Clarence Street from the direction of Victoria Street, said the boy, whose father didn’t want him identified.

“She was carrying them,” said the boy, referring to the woman’s shoes.

There was blood on her face. The boy’s mother said her son described the woman as “walking like a zombie.”

The boy said she passed their home and fell in a neighbour’s yard.

“We ran away,” said the youngster, who said he was “sort of” scared.

When the boys returned soon after, the woman was gone, only to be found further down the street by a group of older boys, according to the youngster.
