AMHERST – Donald James Smith, 39, of Coalburn, Pictou County, was sentenced in court on Wednesday in Amherst to a fine of $113,344 after pleading guilty to having in his possession tobacco on which tax had not been paid.

The incident occurred March 11, 2011, in Wentworth.

Smith was also sentenced to fine of $29,306 after pleading guilty to having in his possession unstamped tobacco.
