Police land at Amherst Centre Mall

AMHERST - About 60 people watched as an RCMP helicopter landed at the Amherst Centre Mall today at 10:20 a.m.
The helicopter display is part of the day-long festivities celebrating National Police Week.
"We invite the public to join us in celebrating National Police Week today at the Amherst Centre Mall,” said RCMP const. Dal Hutchinson.
Amherst Town Police and Springhill Town Police join the Cumberland District RCMP from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
There 45 displays at the mall, and several specialized policing units are in attendance, including an RCMP helicopter, Emergency Response, Explosive Disposal, Coastal Watch, the Motorcycle Unit, Mobile Command, and a dog and handler from Corrections.
The Amherst police have their drug recognition expert on hand, and are going to have different items on display.

Austin Duguay and his mom Sarah checked out the cockpit of the RCMP helicopter at the Amherst Centre Mall. The helicopter departs at 1 p.m.
