AMHERST – Matthew John Warner, 38, of Copp Avenue, Amherst, appeared in court on Monday to face charges of allegedly committing assault with a weapon, a knife, allegedly committing aggravated assault, and allegedly possession a weapon, a knife, for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.
The charges were laid after Amherst police investigated a report of an assault with a weapon in the Copp Lane, West Victoria Street area on May 12, 2012.
A 42-year-old male sustained numerous stab wounds to his hands, was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.
The accused is held in custody for show cause hearing, which will be June 12, 2012.
