AMHERST – One of three individuals arrested in an alleged home invasion earlier this week appeared in court on Wednesday.
Michael Douglas Smith, 18, of Spring Street, Amherst, is charged with three offences.
Smith is charged with robbery for allegedly stealing an HP laptop computer and a Playstation 2 while armed with an offensive weapon – pepper spray.
He is charged with allegedly having in his possession a weapon – pepper spray, and he is charged with assault with a weapon for allegedly committing an assault on the person who’s home he robbed by using a weapon – pepper spray.
The incidents allegedly occurred April 9, in Amherst.
Smith is presently remanded into custody and will return to court April 18 to make a plea.
The other two individuals charged in the case are less than 18-years-old and their names cannot be published under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
