WENTWORTH – They may have thought they had some polar bear blood in them before they entered the icy water but after they took the plunge they realized just how human they were and got out as quick as they could during the Wallace River New Year’s Day Polar Bear Dip at Carson and April Dares place Sunday afternoon on the Hunter Road near Wentworth.

20 people participated in the annual event, which began in 1990.

Because the water was deep and the current fast, as a safety precaution, the participants jumped in one, two, or three at a time instead of going in all at once.

More about the event in Tuesday’s edition of he Amherst Daily News.
