AMHERST – Robert William Layes, 43, of Lower South River, was given a suspended sentence with two years probation after pleading guilty in court on Thursday to failing, without lawful authority, to not harass a person directly or indirectly and, therefore, causing the person to fear for their safety.

The incident occurred between Sept. 29, 2011, and Oct. 23, 2011, in Wallace.

Layes was also sentenced to 30 days custody, to be served intermittently, consecutive to other sentences, and two years probation after pleading guilty to failing without lawful excuse to comply with a condition not to have contact, directly or indirectly, with the victim.

The incident occurred Oct. 25, in Amherst.

Layes was also sentenced to 15 days custody, concurrent with other sentences, to be served intermittently, and two years probation after pleading guilty in court on Thursday to failing to attend court.

The incident occurred Oct. 31, in Amherst.

Layes was also sentenced in court on Thursday to 60 days custody to be served intermittently, concurrent with other sentences, and two years probation, after pleading guilty to failing to comply with a condition to not be in Cumberland County except to meet with his lawyer, apply for Legal Aid, and attend appointments with Family and Children Services, and for failing to keep the peace and be of good behavior.
