AMHERST – Amherst Police responded to 20 calls over the weekend, including disturbances, noise complaints, impaired drivers and alarms.
Police responded to a complaint of loud music Friday on Prince Arthur Street and a missing person report but the person later returned.
Also on Friday, a 36-year-old female was arrested after police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Laplanche Street. The vehicle was located and, as a result, the driver is now facing charges, which included operating a motor vehicle while over the legal alcohol limit and impaired driving. A quantity of marijuana was also located as a result of the vehicle stop.
A 34-year-old female was also arrested and charges with public intoxication of Friday. He was lodged in cells as a result of a complaint outside a local liquor establishment and was released once sober.
Police received a complaint of loud music on Prince Arthur Street again on Saturday. Also, a 47-year-old male was arrested a lodged in cells and charged with public intoxication following a disturbance in the downtown area. The male was held until sober and released.
As a result of a complaint outside a local liquor establishment, a 21-year-old male and a 26-year-old male were arrested and charge with public intoxication. They were lodged in cells and released the following morning when sober.
Also, a 20-year-old female was arrested and lodged in cells for public intoxication after a complaint was received from a local liquor establishment. She was released the following morning once sober.
A 34-year-old New Brunswick man was arrested and faces charges of impaired driving following an incident outside a local liquor establishment. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later day to answer to the charges. Police also responded to a fight on Prince Arthur Street.
