UPPER NAPPAN - Raising money for a local animal shelter has now become a summer tradition for 10-year-old Danika Fawcett and her grandmother Amy Cormier of Dorchester, N.B.

For the past four years, the two have reached out into their community to gain support for a cause that is near and dear to their hearts – the annual Pat Cormier Memorial Fundraiser for the Lillian Albion Animal Shelter near Amherst.

Whether it’s a lemonade stand or a bake sale, or selling hand-designed cookbooks or designing pet calendars, Danika and Amy take on the challenge every summer with gusto.

And this year has been no different.

“We have a lot of fun with it,” said Amy, before the two visited the shelter to present the cheque.
