NEW GLASGOW – For the second night in a row the Amherst Ramblers lost to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers during Maritime Hockey League exhibition action.

The Ramblers lost the first game of the home and home stand 4-3 Wednesday night at Amherst Stadium, and then lost by a score of 6-5 last night in New Glasgow.

The Ramblers scored the games only first period goal, with Shane O’Byrne scoring off passes from Dylan Drake and Mathieu Boudreau.

Brett Shute scored the first of his three goals of the night early in the second, putting the Ramblers up 2-0.

The Crushers tied the game 2-2 before Shute scored his second of the night, putting the Ramblers up 3-2.

Justin Matthews scored in the second period as well, and the period ended with the Crushers ahead 5-4.

Only two goals were scored in the third period. John Walsh put the Crushers up 6-4, before Shute scored his third goal with 7:11 left in the game.

Drake had three assists on the night, O’Byrne and Jordan Escott had two assists each, while Bishop, Jeff Krichew and Mathieu Boudreau had one assist each.

The Ramblers scored one powerplay goal in five tries, while the Crushers had nine powerplays and scored three powerplay goals.

The Crushers outshot the Ramblers 41-37.

Richard Tingley made 35 stops in goal for the Ramblers, and Amherst’s Nathan Kelly was in goal for Pictou County. He stopped 32 of 37 shots.

Exhibition action continues Saturday night at Amherst Stadium when the Ramblers face off against the Truro Bearcats, and then the Ramblers travel to Truro Sunday night for the second half of a home-and-home stand.

Both games begin at 7 p.m.
