PUGWASH JUNCTION – A Cumberland County man is dead following a single-vehicle accident here early Sunday morning.
Cumberland RCMP officials said the 51-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Seatbelts obviously were not used,” RCMP Const. Dal Hutchinson said. “The collision analyst is now trying to determine if any thing else, such as speed or alcohol, were contributing factors.”
The driver of the vehicle was transported to Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Amherst with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
“The investigation revealed that there were two occupants in the truck which left the road and entered the woods, causing one of it's occupants to be ejected from the vehicle,” Hutchinson said.
The accident occurred at 1:47 a.m. on Crowley Road in Pugwash Junction.
The collision remains under investigation at this time. The name of the deceased has not been released pending consent of the family.
