PUGWASH – A shortage of physicians has prompted another closure of the emergency room at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital.

The Cumberland Health Authority is advising the public that due to the shortage the hospital ER will be closed Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. until Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m.

A second closure will take place Sept. 7, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

A third closure is scheduled to take place Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. until Sept. 9 at 8 a.m.

The public is reminded that registration for the emergency department will end one hour prior to any closure. This will ensure that the required administrative processing for each patient can be completed in a timely manner.

At all times, those experiencing a medical emergency should always call 911. The emergency response system is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to provide immediate medical assistance.

Not to worry. They are going to put an ER in the new Convention Center in Halifax so people can go there when their ER is closed.

And they call this healthcare? This is third world. Register an hour before closing so the paper pushers can get their paper work done on time. Just ridiculous! I suspect even Libya had a better and more responsive healthcare system than what is being demonstrated in Cumberland County. Don't get sick.
