This copper theft has to stop. I also know of an empty house that was hit yesterday - someone broke in and hacked out all the wiring and plumbing. Now the place will have to be rewired and all new plumbing, probably $15,000 worth of damage for $30 worth of copper. The problem is it's too easy to sell, apparently. There should be a requirement for scrap dealers to obtain identification, and origins of the materials they're buying. If the thieves can't sell the stuff, they won't take it.
