SPRINGHILL – The nation woke up with Cumberland County this morning.
Canada AM’s Jeff Hutchenson and a CTV camera crew were in Springhill to help the nation wake up with a program filled with local flavour.
Pancakes were served fresh from location at the Anne Murray Centre using local blueberries by Chef Alain Bosse while Oxford Frozen Foods founder John Bragg explained the berries appeal. Springhill’s Fencebusters baseball team were given a spotlight for their uniforms, which are designed with the names of historical ball players from the former mining community and Springhill’s singing sensation Anne Murray talked about the highlights of her career, including the fanfare around her first hole in one golfing and being one of eight Canadians chosen to carry the Canadian flag during the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.
During filming Hutchenson gave shout outs to nearby Joggins, Parrsboro Advocate Harbour and the Town of Amherst, giving Canadians abroad a taste of the region.
