AMHERST - On her 108th birthday, Frances Legere shared her secret for maintaining a young appearance.
"Don't dry your face," said the Gables Lodge resident, who celebrated her milestone with family and friends at the facility on June 16. "My mother used to say, 'Frances, dry your face,' and I never did, and I still don't do it."
A doctor once told her that her "baby moisture" was still in her face, and Legere credits that to her lifelong habit.
Having already celebrated a private family gathering at her grandson's home on June 12, Legere said she was enjoying her afternoon, and happy that so many friends were able to enjoy it with her.
"It's a wonderful thing to be this age and have so many friends around here," said the River Hebert native. "I'm feeling very well for my age."
