AMHERST - More than 35 community service clubs and organizations will be in one spot to provide residents with information on their services.

On June 18, the town's Community and Economic Development department will host its community fair at the Amherst Stadium between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The purpose of the event is to bring together the clubs and organizations within Amherst so the general public can learn what they do and how they are working to improve the quality of life.

Organizations can also recruit volunteers and fundraise.

For more information, contact Corey Crocker at 667-6503 or ccrocker@amherst.ca.

IMO this event would be more successful if it were held early to mid September. This time of year clubs and organizations are winding down for the summer. And most people are glad to have a break from their volunteer commitments for a few months. I'm sure they don't want to be thinking of getting into anything new, at least not until the fall.
