Females sending naked pictures of themselves on cell phones
A number of local teenaged girls are sending naked pictures of themselves on their cell phones that are quickly making their way to fellow schoolmates, who may not have been the intended recipient. The issue is one of concern for both the nurse at the teen health centre and the executive director at the Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County. Brad Works - Amherst Daily News
AMHERST - A phone buzzes, indicating a new message has come through.
The user opens the message and it's a sexually explicit image of a teenaged girl.
A number of local girls have been sending these types of messages, and two women that work in a related field have concerns.
"The question I want to know is 'why?'," said Michelle Richard, the nurse at the teen health centre at Amherst Regional High School.
"It's definitely here. We're definitely seeing it. It's very upsetting."
Richard said she's talked to members of the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) group about the issue and it's something she wants to have a plan for in the new school year.
"We've talked about things that these students have heard, or they may have even gotten the pictures themselves," she said.
"We want to put together a comprehensive plan for the fall to get these teenagers to think about what they are doing."
