PARRSBORO - The Parrsboro Citizens Band is no longer just syonymous with the late Bernie Burke, its auditorium is named after him.

The band honoured its longtime bandmaster by naming its main auditorium the Bernie Burke Auditorium in a special unveiling ceremony of a plaque ahd photo during its annual spring concert on Sunday, May 29.

Members of the Burke family were on hand to participate in the event, which featured Bruce Graham as MC, and words of remembrance from family friend Nancy Curleigh.

"It was a very emotional day for me," said Patricia Burke, daughter. "It was a long time overdue dedication to Dad, who spent his life teaching music to people from all over Nova Scotia. I was so proud to know that so many came to celebrate with our family."

She said the highlight of the day was when the band played "Bernie's March" after the unveiling.
