Gallery owner uncertain about future after fire

PARRSBORO - As fire marshal investigators scoured the charred shell of her art gallery, Taylor Redmond said she wasn't sure what the future holds.

"I just want to take care of whatever I need to do here first," said Redmond, barely a day after fire ravaged The Destination Gallery on Main Street Tuesday evening.

Redmond, who had planned to open the gallery for the season next week, had been working on a photo exhibit with local historian Conrad Byers about Main Street, and fortunately had all of the photos at her home in Spencer's Island. She said she would still like to figure out a way to put that exhibit up somewhere.

"As far as the building, I need to take care of whatever needs to be done," she said. "I don't want to leave it just standing there."

The Parrsboro Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene at about 8:30 p.m. on May 24, to find the upstairs portion of the building engulfed in flames.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Our family had just experienced the same thing with our family business last week. Timing couldn't be any worse for us and you with the upcoming tourist season here. One step at a time and we will both be bigger and better . Best wishes.
