AMHERST - The man accused of trying to steal women's underwear over the weekend is in police custody.
Harvey Joseph Venus was apprehended in Moncton Thursday afternoon. A warrant for his arrest was issued earlier in the day.
He's been charged with theft under $5,000 and two counts of breaching a recognizance.
He will appear in court at a later date.
Amherst Police received a call at around 2 p.m. Saturday after a North Adelaide resident confronted the accused. The man fled on foot and the items were retrieved.
The suspect has a criminal history that includes a five-year custodial sentence for a sexual assault in Amherst in 2005. He was released from jail this past December.
