PARRSBORO – If there’s a photo accompanying this story, consider it an accomplishment.
Bill Connors spends a lot of hours volunteering for different causes in the community, but never in front of a camera, and he likes it that way. But that does not mean his efforts have gone unnoticed, and the Town of Parrsboro proved that this week by naming him its volunteer representative of the year for 2011.
“It’s very nice,” said Connors about the honour, in an interview last week. “I appreciate it.”
The busy volunteer, who has been active with such organizations as the Royal Canadian Legion, the Masonic Lodge and St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church, will represent Parrsboro at the provincial awards ceremony in Halifax next week. He received a certificate of appreciation from Mayor Lois Smith at the monthly mayor’s tea at town hall on Tuesday.
