AMHERST - A 21-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months custody Tuesday morning after pleading guilty at an earlier date to aggravated assault on a baby.
The man, who was 20 at the time and has his identity protected by a publication ban, will abide by a probation with conditions following the expiration of his custodial term.
A DNA sample order was granted, and a 15-year firearms and weapons prohibition was imposed.
The man was arrested and charged on Nov. 30, 2009, after the baby, then four-months-old, sustained life-threatening injuries deemed suspicious in nature.
