Empowering Beyond Barriers, Salvation Army find snow pants for schools

AMHERST - Elementary students throughout the county will be able to stay dry while playing in the snow thanks to two local organizations.

Colleen Dowe, of Empowering Beyond Barriers, said two schools had contacted the organization for assistance in finding snow pants to keep at the school for those that may not have any.

"We had a request from Spring Street Academy and also a request from another school to see if we could find snow pants," said Dowe.

"We get calls like this every year. Because of the Coats for Cumberland program, schools know that we look for things such as this for people."

With the Salvation Army always being supportive of Empowering Beyond Barriers (the Salvation Army is part of the committee), Dowe said they had no problem lending a hand.

"They gave us about $1,300. It was huge that the Salvation Army stepped up for us," Dowe said.
