ECMA nominees to play Amherst
AMHERST - East coast musicians are bringing their sound to the stage early next month in a showcase performance.
The ECMA 2011 Loud Tour is set for April 8 at Teazers Pub.
Organizer Clint Brown said when the opportunity arose to bring ECMA nominees to Amherst, he jumped at the chance.
"This is a good thing for Amherst," he said. "To be a part of the ECMAs, you normally have to be a member, so to see a chunk of ECMA nominees for $5, it's a bonus."
The Loud Tour will feature 2011 nominees The Fed Pennies, Orchids Curse, Last Call Chernobyl and Obsydian, as well as The MotorLeague joining in. The MotorLeague was the 2010 ECMA Capri Cabaret Loud Recording of the Year winner.
"It's definitely going to be a good show," said Brown.
Having connections with a couple of the bands, as well as being in one band's videos, Brown said he was contacted to see if Amherst could host the show.
"One of the bands contacted me after Amherst came to mind because of the support we had during last year's independent music festival."
In the ECMA Loud Recording of the Year category for 2011, Orchids Curse is nominated for Voice: The Tales of Broken Men, Obsydian for The Grotesque Presage, Last Call Chernobyl for Last Call Chernobyl and The Fed Pennies for Brain Disaster.
The ECMAs will be held April 13 to 17 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
