Wing night and dance this Saturday in Joggins
Greetings from River Hebert. Condolences go out to the family and friends of Aubrey Morris Hurley, who passed away on Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Cumberland Regional Health Centre at the age of 66. After retiring from CN, he "began to enjoy all the activities that he loved" such as fishing, hunting, riding his four-wheeler or playing a game of cards. In addition, Aubrey enjoyed spending time with family and friends, talking about past, present and future happenings.
Katherine Chapman "would like to thank everyone who had anything to do to help with Sharon Deegan's benefit dance (that was held on Friday, Feb. 4)." Katherine went on to say that "it was a great sucess; a large amount was raised." Most importantly, "Sharon was there and she had a wonderful time seeing everyone; there were a few tears shed throughout the night."
On Sunday, Feb. 13, Katherine wrote that her "sister Sharon had a good weekend home. On Saturday (Feb. 12) she was out shopping at Walmart and Superstore and on Sunday we took her to play Bingo in River Hebert. She was so excited to be out in the real world; it's so funny how little things like that make her so happy."
This coming Saturday, Feb. 19, the Joggins legion will be holding a wing night and dance. From 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., kick off your "Blue Suede Shoes" and dance to the music and vocals of Maccan's Alfred Dwyer.
On Monday, Feb. 21, a special lady (Lucy Smith of River Hebert) will be celebrating her 98th birthday. Happy Birthday Lucy, love Kathryn and Garnet.
A reminder that the River Hebert Book Club (which meets the fourth Thursday of every month at the River Hebert Branch Library) will be meeting on Thursday, Feb. 24 from 6-7 p.m. to discuss The Reincarnationist by M. J. Rose. For more information, or to register for the book club, phone 251-2324.
And finally this week, the Joggins legion will be hosting a pancake and sausage breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 27 between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon.
Have a good week!
