NORTHPORT - Nearly 50 children of all ages braved the cold temperatures here on Saturday, Feb. 12 for Hockey Day in Canada activities
The event took place on Northport Consolidated Elementary School's 15-year-old outdoor hockey rink, an ice surface that had not been utilized in over a decade up until recently.
"Today is all about family fun, a chance for moms, dads, students, volunteers and anyone else in the community to come out and play on 'Hockey Day in Canada,' said Principal Steven Wells. "We timed it perfectly today. The weather over the past four weeks was colder compared to what it was like in December."
