AMHERST - A local doctor will return to court in March to set a trial date for a sexual assault charge alleged to have occurred this past summer.
Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti has been charged with sexual assault on a female patient stemming from an incident at the All Saint’s Hospital in Springhill on July 29.
Two witnesses were called during a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon. Evidence given during the preliminary hearing is protected by a publication ban.
Fashoranti will appear in Supreme Court on March 17 to set a trial date.
Fashoranti has also been charged with four counts of assault and one of unlawful confinement on a female victim separate from the sexual assault charge. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court on those charges on the same date.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred in Pugwash in the summer of 2001.
Fashoranti is continuing his office practice, although he voluntarily withdrew his services from the Springhill hospital emergency room after being charged with sexual assault.
