It is no surprise to see flooding in Amherst,it has happened many time prior to this one.I am curious as to why the cattle that are stranded were not moved until after the flood rains arrived..after all it was known to every one that we were to excpect 50 mm of rain!

Where do you think the trees and branches came from? With a flood of that magnitude they get washed in and there is no way to get them out until waters go down. They had nothing to do with the magnitude of the flood. The best thing would be for the dam not to be there period.

I happened to take a look at the dam on the Amherst Point Road yesterday where the Nappan River drains and it was plugged solid with large trees and branches. I'm pretty sure that there would have been much less flooding upriver if that was clear. Just sayin'.
