SACKVILLE, N.B. – Celebrating the end of the Beatles music course, Mount Allison University’s music department celebrates the Fab Four in a year-end Beatles Collegium on Friday at the Brunton Auditorium at 4 p.m.
Elizabeth Wells, head of Mount Allison’s music department created the course that studies the history, performances and analyzes music by the Beatles.
The course curriculum focuses on a lyrical analysis, creating an arrangement and performing or directing a performance of a Beatles song.
“With all the scholarship on the Beatles, it provided an excellent forum to talk about the ’60s in a way students would understand and enjoy,” Wells said.
“I have learned a great deal about the Beatles, but also art, music, politics and myself. There is something magical and very exciting about pairing the love of such a timeless band with the academic abilities and musical excellence of the people in this course,” fourth-year-music student Hilary Ready said.
The event is free and open to the public.
