Blues win

SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland County Blues beat the St. Margaret’s Bay Ducks 6-4 and took a 1-0 lead their best-of-seven Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League final series Friday night at the Richard Calder Arena.

After the first period the Blues had a 3-0 lead off goals from Jared Wilson, Jordie Shaw and Ryan Oakley.

The second started with the Ducks making it a 3-1 game but the Blues Zach Carson quickly put the Blue ahead 4-1.

Ducks goaltender Travis Smith was shaken up on the Carson goal after being hit by the puck and was replaced by Ducks back-up Tom Nicholson.

That’s when the Ducks lit it up with three unanswered goals and the second period ended tied 4-4.

All the scoring in the third period came courtesy of the Blues, with Cody Roach and Dave Burke sealing the deal for the Blues.

Jeff Dureulle and Roach each had two assists, with single assists going to Ryan Smith, Alex McKinnon, Garrett McArthur, Carson, Oakley and Murray Bavis.

Andrew Court played in net for the Blues and the shots on goal were 39-32 in favour of the Blues.

Blues are more like a jr. c or d team - playing in a bush league , once they get up against the way better teams from newfoundland they will learn they are not very good
