Blues beat Scotians 4-2
SPRINGHILL - With last nights 4-2 win over the Pictou County Scotians, the Cumberland County Blues sit just one game away from sweeping their best-of-seven Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, Sid Rowe Division quarterfinal series.
Scoring for the Blues were Jared Wilson, Jeff Deruelle, Dave Burke and Zach Carson, with assists going to Ryan Smith, with two, and Wilson, Deruelle and Seth Crowe with one each.
With just under seven minutes left in the third period Jesse Colborne received a major penalty for fighting, a minor penalty for being the aggressor and a game misconduct.
With the score 4-1, and the Blues with a seven minute penalty, it looked like they would be short handed for the rest of the game but Blues captain Cody Roach quickly turned the tables on the Scotians by drawing two penalties close to the Scotians net, one for tripping and the other for holding.
So instead of being down a man, the Blues quickly found themselves with the man advantage.
Once the Scotians penalties expired they put one more in the Blues net and the game ended 4-2
Blues goaltender Andrew Court faced 26 shots on the night and his teammates fired 43 shots at Melvin Day in the opposing net.
The Blue travel to Pictou County on Sunday where they will play the fourth, and possibly final, game of the series at the Trenton Arena.
The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
