MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Peel region police are now looking into bizarre incidents of Mississauga municipal staff who were duct taped and spanked by co-workers.
Constable Wayne Patterson says they started an investigation after viewing a video of what municipal staff referred to as horseplay.
He says the video alone makes the incident appear “more than inappropriate” but there is the potential for a “criminal act” going on.”
Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion says city employees involved in the incidents could still lose their jobs.
An independent investigation determined the workers were simply engaging in horseplay and locker-room behaviour.
The employees were disciplined, but it was determined by city officials that a termination was not warranted.
But McCallion says the issue is not over and she is referring it to council on June 9th.
An employee in the Transportation and Works Department complained last November about abuse he captured on his cellphone camera. (Toronto Star)
