PEACE RIVER, Alta. - An oil company battery in northwestern Alberta has caught fire.

Murphy Oil's battery, about 60 kilometres east of Peace River, notified Alberta's Energy Resources Conservation Board on Monday afternoon about the blaze.

Board spokesman Bob Curran says there are no other details.

He says he's not sure if it's an oil or gas battery, and a battery usually has tanks on site, as well as a treater or separator.

Curran says the company has the appropriate people responding and they are in the process of putting it out.

It's not known if there are any injuries.
