Ramblers lose fight-filled game to Miramichi

MIRAMICHI, N.B. -- The Ramblers had their three-game winning streak snapped Saturday night in a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the host Miramichi Timberwolves in Maritime Junior A Hockey League action.
The game featured seven fights among the 138 minutes in penalties handed out by referee Lyndon Pike, 75 to Amherst.
Justin Matthews netted his 23rd goal of the season to account for the Ramblers offence. Jon Waye stopped 38 shots in the Amherst net.
The Ramblers' record falls to 18-24-1-1. Amherst remains four points ahead of the Yarmouth Mariners for the fifth and final Bent Division playoff berth. The Dieppe Commandos won 3-1 in Yarmouth on Saturday.
Amherst's next game is at home to the Truro Bearcats on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m., at the Stadium.
