RAMEA, N.L. The search for a missing boater off the south coast of Newfoundland has resumed.

Two coast guard vessels and a Cormorant helicopter are looking for the unidentified 48-year-old man from Ramea.

He was reported missing Monday after failing to return from a morning boating trip to an unknown destination.

His five-metre boat was found late Monday afternoon upright and adrift about 11 kilometres east of Ramea, an island community.

About 50 local residents are also involved in the search.

Ramea is the largest community on a chain of islands about seven kilometres off the southwest coast of Newfoundland.
