AMHERST - East Coast comedians Bette MacDonald and Maynard Morrison will be bringing their new Christmas show, Tis the Season, to Amherst on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The show, part of a Maritime Tour, is being presented by Kitchen Party Productions, a new performing arts company started by Charlie Rhindress, former artistic director of Live Bait Theatre.

I brought Bette and Maynard to Live Bait last summer and their sold our performance was hilarious, Rhindress said recently.

So when Bette asked if Id bring them back to the area with their new Christmas show, I jumped at the chance, he added.

MacDonald is a Gemini award-winning actress who has had three national television series including The Bette Show and Rideau Hall.

Morrison has performed his character comedy on TV, radio and for live audiences across the country, sharing stages with Canadian greats Sylvia Tyson, Rita MacNeil and the Rankin Family. His characters, reflecting a Cape Breton-eye view of everyday matters, are consistent favourites wherever he appears.

This famed husband and wife team first came to prominence through their many years with The Cape Breton Summertime Revue.

Throughout the evening of music and hilarity, they discover downhill skiing is not always done intentionally, midnight mass can be dangerous to your health and the Christmas pageant must go on even if the leading lady is having gall bladder problems.

Tis the Season plays at the Amherst Regional High School Theatre, Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at Jean Coutu in Sackville or Bargain Bennies in Amherst. Call 506-364-9328 for more information.
