SPRINGHILL - It was a night of reprieve for the Cumberland County Cool Blues after

crushing the Sackville Blazers 8-1 just one week after their upsetting

5-1 loss to the East Hants Penguins.

"We played hard and it was a really great turnaround from last week,"

Blues coach Ron Reynolds said post-game. "Everyone had the drive to

play and we played really well."

The Blues opened strong here Fri, Dec. 7, leading the first period 4-0

with Matt Noiles, Colin Feehan, Jordie Shaw and Ryan Smith making the

board while hometown goal minder Landon Crowe took fire from the

Blazers. Crowe's skills fending off all challengers is something the

hometown crowd can expect to see more of, Coach Reynolds says.

"It was nice to see Landon on his first start. He's doing a really

good job and he'll get some more game in."

The Blazers were finally on the board in the second but Blues David

Borke had matched the action with an assist from Murray Bavis early

into the period.

Tempers began to flare in the third with the Blazers incapable of

moving their mark while the Blues widened their lead with three

addition goals. Ryan Smith led the charge unassisted with Mark Rozak

packing in a team effort off Seth Crowe and Feehan. The last hand of

the night was dealt by Ryan Kay, taking a pass from Justin Landry and

driving it behind a disgruntled Matt Pike, goaltender for the Blazers.

The Cool Blues win over the Blazers moves the team up the board 13 to

3, trailing Sid Rowe Division leaders the Antigonish Bulldogs by just

four points.

The Cool Blues will head to Upper Tantallon where they'll face off

Saturday night against the Bay Ducks.
