For the third consecutive year, the facility has been nominated by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Music and the Arts (CAAMA) for the Air Canada Centre major facility of the year award - under 8,000 capacity.
“It is very exciting for the City of Summerside’s Credit Union Place to be nominated amongst Canada’s other premier small venues from across the country,” said Summerside Mayor Basil Stewart. “We have hosted many high-profile artists such as Elton John, Jerry Seinfeld, Bryan Adams, John Mellencamp, Sting, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire to name a few."
Credit Union Place is embarking on a busy spring concert season with three major shows in six nights beginning with Bryan Adams on April 29 followed by Canadian icon Gordon Lightfoot on May 1 and Toby Keith on May 3.
“This nomination is a result of the tremendous hard work done by city staff and volunteers,” the mayor said. “It goes to show that our small city can compete on the national scale.”
The award winner will be announced at CAAMA’s annual awards gala on May 9, which takes place during Canadian Music Week 2014 in Toronto.
