PICTOU – The 80th Annual Pictou Lobster Carnival has pulled out all the stops for its entertainment lineup.

This summer will see The Stanfields, Charlie A'Court, JP Cormier and many others perform three nights on the main stage from July 11 to 13.

This year, the carnival entertainment and beer tent will be in the same vicinity in front of the CN Station, said carnival volunteer Kent Corbett. Admission price for evening entertainment at the main stage and beer garden will be determined this week.

Corbett said combining entertainment into one location saved the carnival committee $6,500 in extra sound and stage costs. He said the entertainment budget is the same as it has been past years, with the exception of last year, so combining the areas only made sense.

The opening ceremonies will take place on the main stage July 11 at 6 p.m., followed by entertainment that evening, he said. Entertainment will be held throughout Saturday with a break between 5 and 8 p.m. for the annual Mardi Gras parade.

A complete schedule lineup will be available in the coming weeks, he said, adding the carnival will continue to incorporate many of traditional events with a few surprises to be announced at a later date.

“We are pleased to have these names of entertainers and we hope we have a good variety for everyone,” Corbett said. “I hope everyone comes out and celebrates the 80th anniversary.”
