TRURO - Jake's Gift will return to the stage at the Marigold Cultural Centre this weekend.

Julia Mackey, a playwright and actress based out of British Columbia, will perform her one-woman show ‘Jake's Gift' at the Marigold Cultural Centre on Sunday. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Julia Mackey, a playwright and actress based out of British Columbia, wrote and performs in the play, which pays tribute to our veterans. The one-woman show tells the story of a Canadian Second World War veteran who reluctantly returns to Juno Beach for the 60th anniversary of D-Day to find the grave of the brother who never came home.

The play was inspired by Mackey's own journey to Normandy for the 60th anniversary in June 2004.

The play begins at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 3. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Marigold.

Following the performance, Mackey will present the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 with a special print commissioned by the Canadian Fallen Heroes Foundation.

Also following the performance, Jake's Gift button packages will be for sale for $5. All funds raised through the packages will go to the local Poppy Trust Fund.
