HAMILTON, Ont. — Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino is going to be the headliner at a gala fundraiser.
But it’s not in Los Angeles or New York — it’s in Hamilton, Ontario.
Hamilton radio station CHML is reporting that Pacino will appear at a fundraiser to fight poverty on November 22 at Carmen’s Banquet Centre to benefit non-profit organizations The Good Shepherd and Empower Global.
Carmen’s president, P.J. Mercanti, says he’s been trying for five years to get Pacino to appear.
This is Pacino’s only Canadian appearance this year — and is one of only three such events he’s attending this year in North America.
Mercanti believes the fundraiser will generate between $150,000 and $200,000 for both organizations.
Kurt Frers, the CEO of Empower Global, says the money they receive from the event will be used to build a training centre in Bangladesh.
Tickets to the fundraiser start at $250 and are available through Carmen’s box office. (CHML)
